3. Offshore Economic Forum 2014
Welkoam Iip Lunn,
Dear Sir or Madam,
After the highly successful “Offshore summits” in August 2012 and 2013 we would now like to invite you to the third Offshore Economic Forum on 4 and 5 September 2014. Offshore wind power stations have now caught on as part of our planet’s renewable energy mix. The HELWIN cluster, approximately 30 kilometres north of Heligoland, is entering into a crucial phase – in the near future three power stations there alone will provide power for 1,000,000 households every year and thus massively promote Germany’s energy transition.
The motto of the third meeting this year is “alea iacta est!”
The EEG (German Renewable Energy Act) is expected to be adopted, the die is cast, and even the regulations of the BNetzA (German Federal Network Agency) on capacity allocation are likely to be clarified.
This year’s forum focuses on the impact of the adopted regulations on the further expansion of offshore wind energy.
Important questions this year include:
- Is Germany’s policy on the development of production capacities adequate?
- What impact do the regulations on the allocation and withdrawal of capacity have on the expansion?
- What is the role of offshore wind power stations in the portfolio of large energy companies?
- The EEG reform is only a small step in a much larger reform: which market models could supersede the EEG in future?
- How do developments in Germany affect the competitiveness and positioning of market participants?
To this end, we will be welcoming high-profile guests from business, politics and research. Speakers at the Forum include Dr Hans Bünting, CEO of RWE Innogy, Mr Dirk Güsewell, board member of EnBW Erzeugungs AG; Mr Uffe Winther-Shou, CEO of Vestas MHI; Ms Claudia Kemfert, DIW “(German Institute for Economic Research); those currently requested are Economic State Secretary and maritime coordinator for the Federal Government Uwe Beckmeyer, as well as Prof Redouan Bshary, marine biology and evolutionary thinker.
The fascination of Offshore Heligoland and the challenges posed by the energy transition provide the framework of the Offshore Economic Forum on 4 and 5 September 2014 on Heligoland in the atoll offshore wind resort.
I therefore cordially invite you to come and speak with top-class speakers in a small and exclusive environment about the challenges, plans and approaches. To register, please go to homepage of the Economic Forum, www.wfo-helgoland.eu and click the button “WFO registration”.
If you are one of the maximum of 75 attendees at the Economic Forum, I look forward to welcoming you on Heligoland.
With refreshing wishes,
Jörg Singer
Mayor
